Privacy policy
The short version
- Total Shift does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email or location.
- Your progress is saved on your device, with a backup copy on our servers under a random per-install identifier so it can be restored.
- The mobile apps show ads through Google AdMob. In regions that require it, the app asks for your consent before any ad is requested, and you can change your choice later in Settings.
- Purchases go through the app store's own system; we never see your payment details.
- We never sell data.
What we store
| Where | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your device | Your coins, tools, settings, statistics, Daily Rush results and purchase entitlements. | To play, and to keep what you earned and bought. |
| Our servers (Google Firebase) | A random per-install identifier, a backup copy of your game progress (the board you are playing, coins, tools, settings, statistics, Daily Rush results and purchase entitlements), aggregate usage events (for example how many players reach stage 5) and crash reports. Daily Rush results are kept with that identifier so a daily ladder can be shown. A record of each purchase: product, the store's transaction id, price, currency and date. No name, email, contacts or location. | To fix bugs, balance the game, run the Daily Rush and answer support questions about a purchase. |
Advertising
The mobile apps show ads from Google AdMob: rewarded ads you choose to watch for a bonus, and occasional ads between games, which the No Ads purchase removes. To show and measure ads, AdMob and its partners receive technical data from your device, such as the advertising identifier, IP address, device model, language and coarse location derived from the IP address. How Google uses this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and in US states with a privacy law, the app shows a consent form before requesting any ad. If you decline, ads are still shown but are not personalised. On iOS the app also asks for permission to track through Apple's prompt; denying it limits ads to non-personalised ones. You can change your consent at any time from Privacy options in Settings, and limit ad tracking in your device's settings (Android: Settings, Google, Ads; iOS: Settings, Privacy, Tracking).
Purchases
Purchases in the mobile apps are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store. They process the payment and tell the app which product was bought. We receive no card or bank details. Refunds follow the store's policy.
Analytics and crash reports
The mobile apps collect crash reports and aggregate usage counts through Google Analytics for Firebase, under a random per-install identifier that is not linked to your name or email. They are used only to fix bugs and balance the game.
Children
Total Shift is intended for players 13 and up. It has no chat and no user content, and ads are limited to a general-audience content rating. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Ads: Privacy options in Settings reopens the consent form where it applies; No Ads removes the ads between games; rewarded ads only play when you ask for one.
- Start over: Reset progress in Settings wipes the game on your device and the backup copy with it.
- Delete app data: uninstall the app. To have the server-side records for your install removed, email legal@totalshift.app with the install identifier shown at the bottom of Settings (tap it to copy).
- Questions: write to legal@totalshift.app.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the current version is always at https://totalshift.app/privacy-policy.
